The Fire Private-Recruit trains in fire suppression, combating, extinguishing and preventing fires, answering emergency calls, and in routine maintenance of department equipment, apparatus and quarters. Training involves participation in duties of protecting life and property through the performance of firefighting and rescue activities.
Until the completed application and all required documents are accepted by the Human Resources Department, you are not considered an applicant and will not be given consideration for the position in the Macon-Bibb County Fire Department.
Step 1: Application and Required Documentation (all listed documents must be attached to your application or it will considered 'incomplete')
Step 2: Candidate Physical Agility Test (CPAT) Applicants must be able to pass a Candidate Physical Agility Test (CPAT) with the minimum standards listed below.
Step 3: Assessment Center Once passing the Candidate Physical Agility Test (CPAT), the applicant must pass the Assessment Center (applicant will be notified of instructions).
Step 4: Applicant has to complete 6 References (3 Professional/3 Personal) Once this is completed and confirmed, each applicant will be added to the Fire Registry to be considered for an interview with the Fire Chief.
