Production Manager

Description:

Purpose: The Production Manager is responsible for oversight of the day-to-day operations of the food services department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Monitor food preparation methods, portion sizes, and garnishing and presentation of food to ensure that food is prepared and presented in an acceptable manner.
• Schedule and receive food, checking delivery contents to verify product quality and quantity.
• Plan menus for daily operations and special events.
• Prepare meals for lunch, dinner and special events.
• Complete temperature logs daily for freezer and cooler.
• Complete daily production records.
• Organize stock room, storage room, freezers and coolers.
• Follows guidelines from the Department of Public Health regarding food storage, meal preparation, etc.
• Inspect supplies, equipment, and work areas to ensure efficient service and conformance to standards.
• Supervise Cooks and Utility Workers.
• As needed, train workers in food preparation, and in service, sanitation, and safety procedures.
• Leads food production meetings with cooks.
• Maintains open communication with supervisor.
• Works well with other employees by asking for help when needed and assisting others as needed.

o Work with other employees to complete assignments as directed by the Director of Facilities.

o Willing to discuss Food Services needs with Supervisor.
• Supervises building and kitchen custodian.
• Arrives at work when scheduled.

o Willing to be flexible

o Willing to work weekends as needed.

o Work until shift ends.
• Maintain open communication with supervisor. Works well with other employees by asking for

help when needed and assisting others as needed.

o Work with other employees to complete assignments as directed by the Vice President of Facilities.

o Willing to discuss Food Service needs with Supervisor.
• Makes effort to correct problems when given constructive criticism.

o Willing to adjust recipes and menus.

o Willing to use constructive criticism to improve cooking and cleaning skills.
• Ability to follow instructions without supervisor being present. Continues high quality work when supervisor is absent.

o Complete all job responsibilities.

o Stay on schedule with meal and hour breaks.

o Update supervisor with information about shift.
• Maintains a safe and healthy work environment.
• Maintains Serve Safe Certification.
• Leadership: Role model and mentor for staff as indicated by:

o Take initiative to implement good practice and meet licensing and accreditation standards.

o Interact professionally and cooperatively with other parts of the agency. (i.e. Human Resources, Finance, etc.)
• Complete assignments in a timely and accurate manner.
• Is willing to take on additional responsibility in a positive manner.
• Complete training necessary to perform position.
• Keeping up-to-date technically and applying new knowledge to your job.
• Takes responsibility for scheduling and attending appropriate training.
• Uphold the mission and values of The Methodist Home.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
• Minimum of High School Diploma
• Catering Experience
• Basic proficiency in typing and word processing.
• Competent level of computer knowledge and skills.
• Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
• Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e- mail, or in person.
• Using relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards.
• Demonstrated ability to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintaining them over time.
• Ability to operate basic office equipment including copier, calculator, fax machine, etc.
• Ability to meet and handle the public with poise and tact.
• Pleasant telephone voice.
• Ability to appropriately handle confidential information.
• Valid Georgia Driver's License.
• Ability to understand and consistently implement policies and procedures of the Agency.
• Ability to interact and work cooperatively and effectively with other personnel and residents.
• Ability to show sensitivity and responsiveness to cultural difference in the service population.

Essential Physical Requirements:
• Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving

your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, bending, carrying,

pulling, pushing, and handling materials.
• Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, and

manipulating things.
• Duties may also be performed both indoors and outdoors.
