The primary purpose of this position is to plan, develop and administer a Wing Information Protection (IP) Program and its requirements and resources. Accountable for achieving program goals and objectives across multiple functions, disciplines and providing a focused, seamless, and supportive environment for protecting information in order to conduct operations.

Duties

Help

As Chief, plans, organizes, and oversees the security activities of the installation

As the Wing IP program administrator, is accountable for the successful accomplishment of the IP mission goals

Secure accomplishment of all other Wing mission goals and objectives

Serves as the risk assessment/ risk management advisor to Commander for the convergeed IP disciplines exclusive only of physical security requirements

Performs supervisory personnel management responsibilities

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the SPECIALIZED experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Group Coverage Qualification Standard for Administrative and Management Positions.

Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes Knowledge of a wide range of security disciplines, concepts, principles, practices and requirements applicable to the information protection program to include Acquisition security, program protection, information security, industrial security, physical security, personnel security, operations security, foreign disclosure, and information assurance in order to perform the full range of complex security management responsibilities.

COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: I have a combination of specialized experience and education as described above. Therefore, I have a combination of experience and education to meet the qualifications of the position. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts with your application.GS-12: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes Knowledge of a wide range of security disciplines, concepts, principles, practices and requirements applicable to the information protection program to include Acquisition security, program protection, information security, industrial security, physical security, personnel security, operations security, foreign disclosure, and information assurance in order to perform the full range of complex security management responsibilities.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

1. Knowledge of a wide range of security disciplines, concepts, principles, practices and requirements applicable to the information protection program to include: Acquisition security, program protection, information security, industrial security, physical security, personnel security, operations security, foreign disclosure, and information assurance in order to perform the full range of complex security management responsibilities.

2. Knowledge of analytical methods for determining and evaluating vulnerability threats, intelligence data, and other specialized areas resulting in possible program compromise are required. Extensive knowledge of state-of-the art security equipment, devices, practices, and procedures with all IP security disciplines for planning and implementing protective methods and security procedures are required.

3. Knowledge of operational characteristics across the multiple-disciplinary construct of Information Protection, in order to apply unique management tools to develop an effective converged solution to systemic problematic issues affecting the Wing and serviced activities.

4. Knowledge of required security training concepts, programs, and procedures to develop security education programs, provide training, and assist in operating security.

5. Skill in planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating security programs to meet mission requirements and improve the security program.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
