Job Summary: To ensure that all school system grounds are properly maintained and athletic fields are prepared for games and special events.
Pay Type: Classified/Non-Exempt/Hourly
Retirement: PSERS
Work Year: 12 Months
Reports To: Director of Facilities/Operations
Responsibilities:
- Operate mowers, tractors, edgers, aeration equipment, fertilizer spreaders, herbicide sprayers, insecticide sprayer and line painters.
- Calibrate and assemble irrigation equipment.
- Mix and formulate fertilizer, herbicide, insecticide and other chemicals.
- Drive a truck and operate light construction equipment.
- Assemble and set electric timers.
- Knowledge of the appropriate time to cut, spray, and prune plants.
- Assist other maintenance employees in preparing for special events, moving jobs, and construction projects.
- Use safe maintenance and grounds keeping practices that do not endanger students, school personnel, and the general public.
- Keep an accurate time log, and understand and follow oral and written instructions and work orders.
- Assemble new equipment from given diagrams and instructions.
- Personal skills to work wit a variety of coaches, community leaders, school staff and the general public.
- Use personal and professional skills to perform tasks with consideration of students and school personnel while school is in session.
- Use positive, effective interpersonal skills on the job.
- Perform mopping, buffing, vacuuming and cleaning of buildings and all athletic facilities.
- Perform any other job tasks or services as assigned and/or as requested by the Director of Facilities/Operations and/or Grounds Supervisor.
