Job Title: Medical Technologist - Transfusion Tissue Services

Duties:

• Provide technical expertise and consultation to all Blood Bank Labs.
• Perform immunohematology testing, compatibility testing for blood product administration, volume reduction, and irradiation of appropriate blood products.
• Manage the storage, dispensing, and tracking of tissue products.
• Ensure accreditation standards are followed at all facility Blood Bank Labs for FDA, American Society of Blood Banks (AABB), DNV, DCH, and College of American Pathologists (CAP).
• Assure technical competency of Blood Bank employees.

Skills:

• Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment.
• Comfortable working in areas that contain biohazardous (infectious) materials, along with chemical, fire, and mechanical hazards.
• Physical duties may include standing, walking, stretching, stooping, bending, and lifting light (20 pounds) to moderately heavy (50 pounds) loads.

Education:

• Bachelor s degree required.
• BB (ASCP) or SBB (ASCP) certification required.
