Part-Time Family Law Attorney (with Asylum Experience) Remote

Description:

We are seeking an experienced Family Law Attorney with demonstrated experience handling asylum cases to join our team on a part-time, remote basis. This role offers flexibility and meaningful work supporting clients in sensitive and high-impact family and immigration matters. The attorney will handle a variety of family law and asylum-related cases, working collaboratively with the legal team while maintaining autonomy over their caseload.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and represent clients in family law matters, including custody, divorce, support, and related issues.
  • Provide legal counsel and representation in asylum cases, ensuring clients' rights and best interests are protected.
  • Draft, review, and file pleadings, motions, affidavits, and other legal documents.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare for hearings and court appearances as necessary.
  • Communicate effectively and empathetically with clients, keeping them informed throughout the process.
  • Collaborate with internal staff and paralegals to ensure timely and thorough case preparation.
  • Occasionally visit the office to pick up case files or deliver documents as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active license to practice law in [state].
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in family law, with at least some experience handling asylum cases
  • Strong understanding of family and immigration law, court procedures, and legal documentation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize a part-time caseload.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and empathy when dealing with sensitive client matters.

Work Schedule & Compensation:

  • 20-30 hours per week; flexible schedule.
  • Primarily remote work; must be able to come into the office occasionally to pick up/deliver case files.
  • Competitive hourly rate based on experience.
