Job Summary

The Operational Excellence Engineer will drive operational improvements through analysis, design and solution implementation of existing and/or new lean manufacturing processes throughout Club Car value streams. Value stream areas of focus will include global assembly, material flow, line balancing, plant layouts, plant capacity, packaging, and product data management. The Operational Excellence Engineer will be engaged with existing products and new product introduction along with implementation of manufacturing documentation standards. This on-site position reports to the Vice President of Operations.

Responsibilities

  • Apply lean manufacturing and industrial engineering techniques and concepts to improve operational efficiencies, eliminate waste, improve material flow performance, lower cost, and improve quality, through the application of Lean and other Industrial Engineering concepts.
  • Use engineering methods (e.g., mathematical models, simulation, statistics, value stream mapping) to support the development of optimal process designs and efficient utilization of resources (e.g., facilities, personnel, materials, material flow, equipment) throughout operations.
  • Analyzes and designs value stream, including capability, capacity throughput, workflow and logistics (e.g., critical path, lead-time, transportation, factory layout).
  • Responsible for improving engineered labor standards, to include the creation of new processes and standards to drive maximum utilization of facilities and personnel.
  • Develop and document the Club Car Lean strategy.
  • Develop Lean assessment tools and work with leaders to drive lean thinking and a lean culture.
  • Provide coaching to Operations leaders on the integration of IE/Lean tools and cultural transformations, including the supervisors and team leaders.
  • Improve the flow and storage of material into and through the facility to reduce waste associated with movement and handling.
  • Develop and document staffing plans for each segment of the facility (assembly playbook based on products and rates).
  • Initiate and implement cost reduction projects. Evaluate make-buy opportunities through the facility.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, or related engineering discipline.
  • 10 – 15 years of experience in manufacturing, supply chain and/or logistics required.
  • Expert in development and implementation of lean material flow processes.
  • Experience with presenting and working with senior leaders.
  • Project management experience required.
  • In-depth understanding of Enterprise systems architectures and Database structures, to include ERP, PLM and MES systems, and the ability to aggregate pertinent data for reporting and metric development.
  • Strong computer applications skills (CAD, Simulation software, etc.…) and excellent attention to detail; quick learner with creative problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, professional attitude and approach (and the ability to interact with individuals at various levels of the organization).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Travel required, <15%, including visits to international manufacturing facilities.
