Reports To Principal Date July 27, 2005

Summary and relationship to the curriculum: All classified positions will strengthen the delivery of instruction to support the system mission statement. This position keeps building in a clean and orderly fashion.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities including, but not limited to the following:

  1. Sweeps, mops, scrubs, and vacuums hallways, stairs, and office space.


  1. Cleans carpet, cleans bathrooms, grounds, parking lots, and windows, and AC/heating vents.


  1. Empties trash and garbage containers.


  1. Maintains building.


  1. Set up and take down for school activities.


  1. Supplies and resupplies materials for restrooms.


  1. Changes light bulbs.


  1. Notifies principal concerning the need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, and ventilating equipment.


  1. Cleans sand and debris from sidewalks.


  1. Monitors the use and amount of supplies and orders supplies when necessary.


  1. Monitors/maintains limits on spending related to custodial budget.


  1. Performs other duties as assigned by the principal.


Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   1. Education and/or Experience: High school education or GED preferred. One month related experience or training preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


  1. Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; ability to write simple correspondence; ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.


  1. Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.


  1. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Additional Requirement: Must be at work on time. Must meet attendance standards. Must conduct activities safely. Must be willing to work flexible shifts.
